Church and Knowing God

If you want more-in-depth knowledge about how to have more faith in God, check out https://www.growingtoknowgod.com/spiritual-self-care-resources/.

People have told me, “I’m spiritual but not religious.” They have also asked me, “Why is church important?” Then, they go on to explain that they don’t want the trappings of worship in church but state that they do believe in God. When I get a little deeper with them, they say that they were very bored sitting in church when they were children and thus don’t want it as adults.

If you know people who have no interest in attending church, give them my life-story What God Has Done.

When people experience the Holy Spirit’s miraculous work in their lives, he produces a hunger and thirst in them which wants to hear the Bible preached and taught as food to feed their new life for growth. After all, without someone else to share how God wants us to live, we would never discover it on our own, since we all have blindspots to the imperfections remaining within us.

In addition, since God through the Apostle Paul says that because all believers are one body with Jesus as their Head, we are interconnected. The result must be that we need to gather together to receive God’s Word and to fellowhip with each other. That answer is God’s reply to the question, “Why do I need to go to church?”

The writer to the Hebrews says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25). Thus, it’s not enough to read the Bible by ourselves or watch it on TV or the Internet; we need preachers and teachers outside of ourselves to show us what it means for our lives. Of course, it’s also important for us to “feed” daily on the Bible as God’s nourishment for our new lives.

Of course, since so many Christian churches have wandered away from the Scriptures in some ways, it’s important to visit several of them in order to see if their preaching and teaching is true to the Bible. I welcome your response to my blog.

If you know people who have left churches for any reason, give them my life-story What God Has Done.
