Why do Christians believe in God?

If you want more-in-depth knowledge about how to have more faith in God, check out https://www.growingtoknowgod.com/spiritual-self-care-resources/.

Christians believe that God has made the whole universe. He sustains it, thus ensuring that it continues. But does this truth mean we should believe in and serve him? Four principles that Christian’s believe are given below, illustrated by Bible passages from the NIV translation of the Bible.

1. God has made and maintains his universe.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth... Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. So God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
God is our Maker.

The eye-of-God nebula, a cloud in space (though God, of course, doesn’t have a physical eye!)

2. God is humanity's just Judge.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
God is our just Judge.
God's Word through his servant -- Psalm 1:5-6 (NIV)

3. All humans have rebelled against him by leaving his right path.

There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.
All humans have rebelled.
God's Word through the Apostle Paul -- Romans 3:10-12

If you know people who deny or minimize sin, give them my mystery novel Divided Together 2094.

“God made both humans and mountains. He enabled us to create things as well.”

4. Because of God's love, Jesus died in our place.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
He is the God of love but must judge rebels against his rule.
God's Word through the Apostle John -- John 3:16-18 (NIV)
