Life’s experiences and knowing God

A huge assumption in western culture is that our experiences can be our guide throughout life. That idea is called pragmatism, in which people say, “If it works, it’s good; if it doesn’t, it’s bad.” My father was a pragmatist, which led him to be very permissive with his three boys.
